Hi friends! I’m finally posting about my trip to New York! (better late than never right?) I wanted to share some of my pics and travel tips from my visit. I’m so glad we had the chance to visit the city, especially during the holiday season! It was so pretty and reminded me of being in a movie. It really is a must trip at some point in your life. We originally decided to go for a “college trip” for my sister to look at a school there, but if were all being honest, it was more of a girls trip with a quick stop at a college lol! There is so much to do in New York so here are some of my favorite spots we visited and things to do! Brooklyn:
Grimaldi’s – If you like pizza this is a New York must! Since we walked the Bridge from the train station (which I recommend since the view is stunning!) Grimaldi’s is located under the bridge. It’s super busy so plan ahead, also they only take cash.
One Girl Cookies- After we had dinner, we had to stop for dessert! So we went to this cute little cookie/coffee shop really close by and it has a view of the Brooklyn Bridge. The pumpkin whoopie pie and vanilla latte’s were the best! When we left it started to snow! It was probably my favorite day of the trip:)
Brooklyn Bridge Park– To see a view of the city skyline and Brooklyn Bridge (the last picture) go to Brooklyn Bridge Park! It is a great photo op and a stunning view at any time of the day! Lucky enough it is right next to One Girl Cookies, so right after dessert, we walked outside and it was right there!
(And if any of you are Gossip Girl fans, 455 Water Street is where the Humphrey loft is in Brooklyn)
Upper East Side:
Central Park- Take the South East entrance to Central Park. You get the best views of the skyline, the ponds in the park and during the winter you can get a view of the Ice Skaters! Plus you’ll get a nice walk right by the Plaza and you’re near 5 Ave!
Serendipity- If you have a sweet tooth like me 🙂 you have to visit Serendipity and get the frozen hot chocolate milkshake! so good! This place is also really busy so plan ahead. If you have never seen the movie Serendipity put that on your Netflix list!
The Met- Another Gossip Girl favorite of mine! We only had time to go to the Met and take a few pictures since the line to get inside was crazy due to the rain. But I’ve heard it’s incredible and will definitely have to check it out next time I’m in the city.
Washington Square Park: Another touristy stop was this park, I’ve always seen photos of the famous arch and always thought it was just in Paris! So before we headed to Brooklyn for the day we made a stop here. It was so cool to see the tree and a different part of the city.
Top of the Rock: Visiting the Top of the Rockefeller center was on the top of my list for this trip! The view is so beautiful and I actually preferred it to the Empire State Building. It is a similar view but Top of the Rock seemed less crowded faster line and just a different view overall! Plan ahead for this one because of the weather and tickets seem to go fast. We bought ours a couple days in advance:)
Rockefeller Center- I loved visiting the Rockefeller Center during the holidays! Seeing the tree and ice skating was fun to see in person. We also had to stop at the Anthropologie. It. was. huge. We also stopped at NBC studios, there are tons of stores and things to do in this spot.
Time Square- My last trip to New York in the summer we visited Time Square and it is so amazing, but since it is so busy and full of tourists once is enough. BUT on New Years Eve we had a chance to watch the ball drop in Times Square pretty close up, which was an amazing experience and I will never forget it!
-Since it is such a big city and there is so so much to do, I recommend planning ahead and making an itinerary of all the things you want to do!
-If you’re looking for somewhere to charge your phone, bathroom, or wifi, there’s a Starbucks on every corner you could usually go to!
Skip the taxi’s. It will save you some money to take the subway instead! Just get a MetroCard for the week and take the subway or walk! Download Google Maps or the Embark NYC app to prevent getting lost if you walk a lot.
Fashion- layers layers layers people! It wasn’t snowing during my trip but it was still really cold! I had most of my layers from H&M they always have the best deals and got most of my beanies and scarves from there. Best piece of advice is to stay warm and wear comfortable flat shoes! I’m all about a cute outfit but your feet will thank you for it!
I hope you all have a great week and hopefully get to visit New York City sometime soon!
